  • Scholarships and Financial Aid:
    Marist Transfer Merit Scholarships are granted upon the recommendation of the Admissions Committee to transfer students who have excelled at the college(s) from which they are transferring. Merit Scholarships range from $10,000 to $30,000. We also offer Phi Theta Kappa scholarships ($5,000 per academic year) to student's in the honor society at their community college. For new based aid consideration, students must file the CSS Profile and FAFSA for the academic year they are applying for.

    Marist welcomes and encourages applications from transfer students. Each year, approximately 200 students from two-year and four-year colleges around the world choose to transfer to Marist.

    Marist receives about 750-800 applications each year.

    Marist accepts about 70% of transfer applicants.

    We have transfer agreements with Dutchess Community College for Business, Crime & Justice Studies, Digital Media & Social Work. Marist also has a Communications agreement with Bergen Community College.

Transfer Application Requirements

  • Minimum GPA:
    Students looking for admission to Marist and scholarship eligibility should look to have a 2.5 GPA or higher.
  • Official Transcripts:
    Submit an official copy of your final high school transcript. Submit official transcripts from all colleges attended.
  • SAT Scores:
    Test Optional
  • Letters of Recommendation:
    Send one additional letter of recommendation.
  • Essay:
    Attach a personal essay.
  • Application Fee:
    $50 non-refundable application fee.
  • Interview:
    A formal interview is not required but we are always happy to meet with students to learn more about their academic journey.
  • Associates Degree Required:
    not required
  • Other Requirements:
    Provide a list of courses currently in progress (including course numbers).

Transfer Credit Policy

  • Minimum Grade:
    College courses that you have may be considered for, and if appropriate, awarded transfer credit to Marist College. The courses must be taken at an accredited college or university, and students must earn a grade of "C" or higher in the course.
  • Credits (Min/Max):
    Maximum credits from a two-year school - 70 credits. Maximum credits from a four-year school - 90 credits.
